The Meal of a Lifetime
Thanks to a $190,340 grant from the Walmart Foundation, now all students at Old Wire Road Elementary, Grace Hill Elementary, Joe Mathias Elementary and Bonnie Grimes Elementary are able to start the day by eating breakfast in the classroom with their teacher.
Since the program began, approximately 85 percent of all enrolled students in the four pilot schools are eating breakfast, which is more than a 60 percent increase. Overall, more than 1,760 students at the four schools are now eating breakfast daily. Teachers find that students often have fewer tardies because they want to eat with their class and that a nutritious breakfast helps prepare their students for a day of learning, which can then fuel them for a lifetime.

Opportunity to Transfer into Rogers School District
The Rogers School District is accepting requests for nonresident students to transfer into the district as required by the Public School Choice Act of 2013 and the applicable rules and guidelines for School Choice issued by the Arkansas Department of Education, unless the student’s transfer creates the need for additional staff, services or facilities or causes the resident school district to exceed its transfer limit. By June 1, 2014, the parent/guardian of interested students must complete an application at the Rogers School District’s administration office at 500 W. Walnut St. and provide a copy to their resident school district. All 7-12th grade students will also need administrators from both districts to sign a Changing Schools/Athletic Participation (CSAP) Form.
